Dentistry treatment For family
Are you looking for a family dentist Glenroy?
Our dental clinic in Coburg provides dentistry treatment for all members of your family, whatever their age.
We do our best to make the experience of visiting the dentist – potentially an anxious time particularly for children and young adults – as comfortable and pleasant as possible.
Our team of dentists has years of experience treating children and always take into account the child’s age, personality, level of confidence and the wishes of the parents or caregivers
A child’s first permanent teeth (that do not replace any baby teeth) begin to emerge when they are five or six years old. Ideally, you shouldn’t wait this late to begin routine dental care. We actually recommend that the first visit be as early as possible and even as early as 2 years of age. The earlier a cild can visit, the better. Getting a child into an early habit of going to the dentist, even if just for a check-up, reduces the likelihood of them developing a dental phobia (fear of the dentist). It prepares them to enter adulthood with a positive attitude towards dental care.
We talk to children before and during the treatment to explain what is happening to them in language which they’ll understand. We also educate our families, as childhood is a critical stage for establishing good oral hygiene habits. Good and bad habits can develop at this time and last a lifetime.
Bringing your child to our dental clinic for regular check-ups from a young age means dental decay, that can have damaging long-term effects, is much less likely to develop. Dental health, jaw growth development and tooth eruption are monitored at every examination. Common dental treatments for children include the removing of decay and the filling of cavities with white fillings. We also offer fissure sealants, a tooth coloured material which is painted on to the surface of the teeth to help protect them from decay by filling in the small gaps and grooves on the biting surface of the back teeth, meaning food and plaque can’t get trapped there to form a cavity.
Our team of dedicate hygienists treat our Glenroy families from a preventive point of view. Their regular visits (usually every 6 months) include a dentist examination, x-rays if required, a cleaning and/or polish and the application of fluoride gel.
If orthodontic treatment is required, to straighten or realign teeth, and you’re looking for a family dentist in Glenroy, Dr Matthew Siebel is available for a consultation and treatment at Coburg Dental Group. Early orthodontic treatment for children as young as 6 years of age, may help significantly reduce the length of time braces are needed to be worn later in life. If your child does need braces, we offer a range of options including discreet and near invisible ones that are perfect for older children who are concerned about how they’ll looking wearing braces.
Whatever the treatment, our focus is on making it as comfortable and pain-free as possible. We can use local anaesthetic, sedation or sleep dentistry where necessary and if you want us to do so. We will not begin any treatment until your child is fully ready and comfortable to go ahead with it. We always quote the fees for our treatment before we commence anything and we listen to parents and our patients to respond to your needs.
