I want an implant tooth
Do you have a missing tooth and would like it replaced with a permanently fixed tooth and not a removable denture? Are you looking for an Essendon dental dental practice or one nearby?
At Coburg Dental Group we are able to provide your implant treatment from start to finish, all in our practice without needing to refer you to a specialist.
Dr Claudia Beltran is a very experienced dentist who surgically places our implants but before you see her for a surgical planning consultation, you will need to see one of our restorative dentists for the planning of the overall treatment.
At the initial consultation, our dentist will do a thorough review of your medical status including a review of your medications and review any relevant medical or dental treatment history. Then the dentist will check of all of your teeth and soft tissues of the mouth. The appropriate x-ray(s) is also taken and evaluated to determine your suitability for the treatment. Dental impressions or a virtual scan of your teeth will then allow us to construct a 3D model of your mouth for the planning. This planning is critical because implant fixtures (screws) come in many sizes, shapes and configurations so determining the best implant for your situation can be complex. In addition, there are many anatomical structures such as nerves, the sinuses and adjacent tooth roots which clearly need to be avoided during the surgical phase of the treatment.
A co-ordinated planning session is then held with Dr Beltran to determine the final type of implant to be used.
The procedure is usually performed under local anaesthesia but we can arrange a general anaesthetic if the situation demands this service. With a procedure time of approximately one hour, and a quick recovery time, most patients are amazed at how simple this complex treatment appears to be. Dr Kestenberg, the principal of Coburg Dental Group says “we are very fortunate to have such an experienced team of dental surgeons and support staff to make this treatment as comfortable as possible for our patients.”
To maximize the success rate and minimize the discomfort for the patient, we prefer a 2 stage approach to the treatment. So, we allow the implant site to heal for 3-6 months after the implant is placed and then we have 2 appointments to make the final tooth to be screwed in to the implant by one of our restorative dentists.
We highly recommend that the implant is checked every 3-6 months as part of your regular general hygiene visits with one of our dental hygienists. At that visit, your dentist will also check your teeth and gums to ensure that optimal dental health is maintained. So if you’re looking for an Essendon Dental practice call us to make an appointment on (03) 9386 1805.
Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
